Protist Reproduction
Facts about Protists
REPRODUCTION IN PROTISTS
What are the three major phyla of protozoa (animal-like protist)? How do members of each of these groups move?
Answer: Cilliates, Zooflagellates, Pseudopods. Cilliates have little hairs or cilia to move, zooflagellates have "tails" or flagella, and pseudopods have fake feets.
Compare protozoa that have flagella to those that have cilia in the way they move and reproduce.
Answer: protozoa with flagella move like swimming and reproduce and cut in half at their larger equator (their middle from head to tail). protozoa with cilia move slowly with some little hairs and can reproduce as they want (they can divide half of their body in whatever order).
